LEAVING TEXAS

Something was wrong when I got to Texas
Cause it was raining all the time
Life on the Gulf Coast, with them palm trees blowing
Sure didn't match a dream of mine

Lots of cowboy hats, snakeskin boots
and trucks everywhere
But I couldn't fool the cowboys with my hillbilly twang,
No matter what I'd wear

Life will never be the same, once you've lived in Texas
No matter where you roam
I’ll be back someday, back down to Corpus Christi Bay
For three years it was my home

Two hours north is old San Antone, it's our favorite weekend retreat
Two hours west, Nuevo Laredo, drive to get something to eat
Old Mexico, yea ole Mexico; cabrieto, cerveasa and lime
Vacation in Monterrey and Mexico City, you know we always had a great time

Life will never be the same, once you've lived in Texas
No matter where you roam
I'll be back someday, back down Corpus Christi way
For three years it was my home
And I’m going home
