Living in the suburbs, but the bank owns my house
Got thirty-five credit cards, but my credit’s done ran out
Turned in my Mercedes Benz when that lease contract ran out

Growing up in the country, we all laughed at city ways (still do)

Born in the country,  we laughed at city folks ways
But one taste of that night life, I knew I was here to stay

You  gotta have this, you gotta have that, you gotta have it today
Where do you live, what do you drive, “Welcome to Rat Race U.S.A.”

Take your vacation,  gotta go down to Disneyland (at least once in your life)
Your one week vacation, take the kids to Disneyland (maybe bring your wife)
You work all that overtime, just to payoff the Banker man
(Cause he want’s his money back)

Home for the holidays’, oh- you gotta do it right (down to the last candle)
Home and Garden magazine shows you how to do it right (for a fee)
The perfect American family together on Friday night (pop some popcorn

You gotta have this, you gotta have that, you gotta have it today
Pick up the phone, Pizza Hut Is on the way,“20 minutes guaranteed

You gotta have this, you gotta have that, you gotta have it today
Where do you live, what do you drive, “Welcome to Rat Race U.S.A.”
