At six a.m. the radio came on jerking me out of my dreams
Man says „Get ready for another cold one“, Ground Hog Day it seems
After a cup of coffee, I head to the barn warm up my pick-up truck
But the gas lines froze and that battery ran down, looks like I’m outta luck

Well the bossman understands and says these things just happens every now and then
The sun comes up and my truck thaws out so I’m back on the road again
As I’m driving to thru the mud, my minds starts to thinking and I can’t tell it „NO“
Then the radio plays an old Buffet song telling me I’ve gotta go

Down to the Islands, tequila, salt and lime
Down to the Islands
, leave this cold ass Nebraska behind
I know a Cowboy’s gotta be tough, but I just don’t give a damm
I’m catching me the first thing flying south, Down to the Islands

Well my mama calls me crazy, my daddy says Boy, someday you gotta grow up
My baby thinks I’m cheating, what woman am I meeting, she really puts up a fuss
But the winters here are killing me, I’ve gotta getta away sometimes
When I hear ole Jimmy on the radio singing ‚bout tequila, salt and lime

Down to the Islands
, Coke and Puerto Rican rum
Down to the Islands and laying all day out in the sun
I know a Cowboys gotta be tough , but I just don’t give a damm
I’m catching me the firstt thing flying south, Down to the Islands
