He needs her now, after all these years
To take care of him, and hold back the tears
Much more than before, he should under stand
Just how much more, he needs her now
For 60 some odd years, they’ve been married
To find the strength every day she prayed
For better or for worse, she stood by him
A vow to God she made
But, he needs her now, more than ever before
For the simplest of things like closing the door
As he lies in bed, as the day passes by
He just withers away, no damn reason why
The doctors say it’s no use
If he won’t play along
A stubborn old man can’t be helped
Better off in a home
That’s why
He needs her now, after all these years
To take care of him, and hold back the tears
